I discovered yoga over 35 years ago whilst training as a primary school teacher. When working full-time in school, I found my weekly Thursday evening yoga class to be an absolute gift in relaxing and re-energising myself for the end of the week.
Since qualifying as a yoga teacher myself in 2009, I have explored many different styles of yoga but am always drawn back towards those practices which cultivate an attitude of quiet and stable mental presence whilst releasing tension and stress within the body.
In addition to my yoga practice and training, my teaching is influenced by attendance at Feldenkrais and Hanna Somatic classes and my long-term study and practice of Buddhist-based meditation. I invite students to incorporate the foundational attitudes of mindfulness eg.patience, curiosity and non-striving, into their practice.
Recently, I undertook an intensive two-year training to deliver the Feldenkrais-based programme Bones 4 LifeĀ® and am now offering workshops and 1 to 1 classes.
When away from my yoga mat, I spend as much time as possible outside enjoying the wonders of the natural environment.
